ARTIST'S WALK Festival in the Park, Charlotte's oldest and ever popular art's festival, opens Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 6:00pm at Freedom Park and runs through Sunday, September 21. Admission is free to all! Over 150 artisans have been invited to exhibit and sell their work at the 44th annual Festival in the Park. Festival spectators will have the chance to meet and chat with the artists while looking for that special piece of artwork to grace their home. From caricature artists to fine oil paintings and pottery, the Festival offers art for all ages. The Artist's Walk is an area of Festival in the Park, which will consist of fine arts and crafts. No commercial venues, electronic music or other events will be in this special area. The artists will be juried into the Festival by a group of judges from the local area. On-site judging will take place during the first two days in the Artist's Walk area. The Best of Show award winner will be given a cash prize as well as a free tent space in the Artist's Walk area the following year. Honorable Mention Ribbons will also be awarded. Artist's Walk Awards are as follows:
LAKE WALK The Festival Lake Walk is another area of artists exhibiting at Festival in the Park, consisting of traditional arts and crafts. Judging of this area will take place during the first two days of the Festival. First place winners will be given a cash prize as well as a free tent space in the Lake Walk area the following year. Festival Lake Walk Awards are as follows:
